	The Auditor-Treasurer is responsible directly to the people of Brown County and subject to Minnesota Statutes Chapters 384 and 385. This official and five full-time and one part-time staff members are dedicated to serving the citizens of Brown County by offering the best possible service in all aspects of the duties of this office. This office is located on the second floor of the courthouse. The Auditor-Treasurer serves as: Liaison between 16 township boards, 7 city councils, 32 precincts, 8 school districts, and 4 neighboring counties with drainage issues Chief financial and investment officer Registrar of Voters License Issuer of (Auctioneer, Beer, Dangerous Dog, Fireworks, Liquor, Precious Metal Dealer, Tobacco, Transient Merchant, Wine) Licenses By statute, a member of the County Board of Equalization, the County Canvassing Committee, County Extension Committee, and various other committees, councils, and boards as appointed or directed by the County Board of Commissioners The Auditor-Treasurer also oversees the License Bureau office which is located at 1900 Franklin Street North in New Ulm. DNR Game and Fish licenses, vehicle registrations and transfers, drivers’ licenses and IDs, and mobile home transfers take place in this office. Both the License Bureau and the Auditor-Treasurer’s Office provide notary services. The part-time county drainage inspector, Dale Holtz, does not have an office but reports regularly to the Auditor-Treasurer.
