Thanks for visiting the Brown County Sheriff’s Office website. Here are a few informational facts to give you an idea of who we are and what we do. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and jail is housed within the Brown County Law Enforcement Center located at 15 South Washington St. in New Ulm, MN. The lower levels of the LEC facility contain a secure drive through sally port, parking for eight vehicles, two large evidence storage garages, and a training room. The administrative level of the LEC contains the radio dispatch/911 emergency center and all offices occupied by the Brown County Sheriff personnel with the exception of jail staff. The New Ulm Police Department and Minnesota Highway Patrol also occupy offices on this level. The facility’s upper levels contain a state-of-the-art jail and offices for the jail administrator and jail programmer. The jail can hold a maximum capacity of 56 inmates for up to one year. Brown County Sheriff’s Office staff consists of 35
full-time employees, 4 part-time employees and 17 reserve deputies. Nine
of the thirty-five full-time employees are licensed peace officers.
