Veterans who are eligible for travel pay MUST collect travel
pay at the VA Medical
Center, and MUST turn it in to the van driver. Veterans who do not
turn in the travel pay given to them by the VA Medical Center will not be

$10.00. There is no charge for a spouse.

Soldiers Rest
The only county in the State of Minnesota to provide burial plots free of
charge to Veterans and their spouse. Soldiers Rest cemeteries are located
in the communities of:: New Ulm, Sleepy Eye, and Springfield.

Doughboy Monument in
New Ulm City Cemetery
The
Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) provides a U.S. flag at no cost, to drape
the casket or accompany the urn of a deceased veteran who served honorably in
the U. S. armed forces. It is furnished to honor the memory of a veteran’s
military service to his or her country.
Generally, the flag is given to the next-of-kin as a keepsake after its use during the funeral service. When there is no next-of-kin, VA will furnish the flag to a friend making a request for it. For Soldiers Rest cemeteries with an Avenue of Flags, families or friends of veterans buried in these cemeteries may donate the burial flags of their loved ones to be flown on patriotic holidays.
