dispatch1The Brown County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center is located in the Brown County Law Enforcement Center at 15 S Washington St in New Ulm.  The Dispatch Center is the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for 911 calls placed in Brown County, which is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, answering 911 emergency calls as well as non-emergency calls.

The non-emergency number for the Brown County Sheriff's Office is (507) 233-6700. Callers may dial the non-emergency number to report situations that are not an emergency, but may still require police, fire, or EMS attention.

Dispatchers take information from callers and dispatch the appropriate personnel.

The Dispatch Center is the severe weather warning point for Brown County. Warning sirens are activated for New Ulm, Sleepy Eye, Springfield, Comfrey, Evan, Cobden, and Hanska. These sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of each month.

Dispatchers utilize various resources for gaining pertinent information.  Such resources include police radio, Telecommunication Devices for the Deaf/Hearing Impaired (TDD), National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services Division (DVS), Statewide Supervision, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), and GEO Lynx Mapping System.

Remember, 911 is for EMERGENCIES only. By calling 911 for non-emergencies, you might be occupying a line that someone with a true emergency needs!

When calling, 911, be sure to speak slowly and clearly. The 911 Operator will ask you several questions, give as much specific information as possible. Also, stay on the line until the 911 Operator tells you that you may hang up.
