PART TIME HOME HEALTH AIDE/HOMEMAKER

BASIC FUNCTIONS
Provides delegated nursing and medical tasks and personal cares to persons who are ill or disabled, in their own homes, and perform essential household tasks, under the direction and supervision of a Public Health/Registered Nurse.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide personal cares and essential home health aide services to clients in their own homes under the direction and supervision of a Public Health Nurse. Duties may include: delegated nursing and medical tasks such as clean, non-sterile dressing changes, and medication monitoring; assigned therapy procedures including range of motion exercises; preparing meals for clients; essential housekeeping tasks such as laundry, bedding changes, cleaning bathroom, kitchen, dining area and bedroom. Observe for changes in client’s health condition and report to Public Health Nurse. Document all cares given to clients on appropriate reports on a timely basis. Accurately completes all time sheets and mileage records on a timely basis. Participates in all continuing education, in-service programs to maintain certification as a Home Health Aide.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read, write, follow directions, keep accurate records of time and mileage, and document activities and observations. Three years of experience in providing personal cares to others as a Home Health Aide, Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for disabled individual or family. Minnesota Certification as a Home health Aide, including 75 hour Nursing Assistant training, 15 hours of Home Health Aide training, and competency testing. Valid Minnesota Driver’s License and / or access to reliable transportation. Home management experience and skills in maintaining an orderly and sanitary home, including housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, laundry, home safety, grocery shopping. Maturity, trustworthiness and respect for other persons and their property. Ability to work independently, with self-motivation and sound judgement. Willingness to work with and for others on a flexible schedule. Physical ability to perform various personal care activities and household tasks with bending, lifting, twisting and stretching. Flexibility to adjust to changing situations and clients. Must have access to a telephone. Enjoy working with elderly/disabled persons and able to maintain a positive social/emotional environment for clients.

COMPENSATION
Position is currently in Grade Level IX with an entry level to midrange hourly rate of $16.0601 to $18.9428, DOQ.
