Brown County Human Services has 2 programs available to citizens of Brown County who are experiencing evictions or utility shut-offs.  Both of these programs require an application, an interview including a review of the households past 60 days income and expenses, and proof of balances available in readily available assets such as checking or savings.

The Emergency Assistance program is available to families who have a child age 18 or younger.  This funding is available to a household once every 18 months.  This 18-month look-back includes funding received in any county in Minnesota.  All payments are vendor paid either to the landlord or to the utility company.

The Emergency General Assistance program is available to single adults and also to families who are not participating in the MFIP program.  This funding is available once every 12 months.  The 12 month look-back includes funding received in any county in Minnesota.  All payments are vendor paid either to the landlord or to the utility company.

Please contact our agency if you have need for assistance with an eviction or utility shut off issue.  If you would like to receive a copy of the local Emergency Assistance or Emergency General Assistance plan, you can request this through the Financial Assistance Supervisor.  Our agency contact phone number is 507-359-6500 or 1-800-450-8246.
