Notary Public


To become a Notary Public in Minnesota you must apply to the Office of Minnesota Secretary of State. For information on becoming a Notary Public and to apply, go to the Minnesota Secretary of State Office.

The Office of Minnesota Secretary of State will issue a Notary Commission card. This card must be registered with your resident Minnesota County, in person. When you register, you will need:

  • Brown County Notary Commission card
  • $20 fee payable to Brown County Treasurer

Make check payable to Brown County Treasurer. You may pay by cash, check, or credit card.
