Chuck Hanson - County Attorney
Chuck has been a prosecutor since 2010 and was elected as the Brown County Attorney in 2014. As the elected County Attorney he is the chief legal advisor to the Board of Commissioners and provides legal services to each department in Brown County government. He also prosecutes all juvenile delinquency matters, welfare fraud cases, and appears in court for all child support establishment and enforcement actions.
Dan Kalk - Chief Deputy County Attorney
Dan started working as a prosecutor with Brown County in 2012. Dan was appointed as the Chief Deputy County Attorney in 2021. Dan’s caseload includes felonies, gross misdemeanors, misdemeanors and petty misdemeanors.
Paul Gunderson - Deputy County Attorney
Paul started working as a prosecutor with Brown County in 2010. Paul’s caseload includes felonies, gross misdemeanors, misdemeanors and petty misdemeanors.
Jill Green - Deputy County Attorney
Jill has been a prosecutor with Brown County since 2019 as a Deputy County Attorney. Jill’s caseload includes child protection, adult protection, civil commitments and guardianships.
Nicole Grathwohl - Legal Assistant
Nicole joined the Brown County Attorney’s office at the beginning of 2015 as a Legal Assistant. She primarily works with Paul on criminal cases, and Chuck with tax appeals, civil matters and welfare fraud cases.
Melissa Bakke - Legal Assistant
Melissa joined the Brown County Attorney’s office at the beginning of 2015 as a Legal Assistant. She primarily works with Jill on child/adult protection, civil commitments, and guardianships, and she works with Chuck on juvenile delinquency matters and child support cases.
Krystle Weymann - Legal Assistant
Krystle joined the Brown County Attorney’s office at the beginning of 2022 as a Legal Assistant. Krystle primarily works with Dan Kalk on criminal cases.
Bernie Epper - Victim/Witness Coordinator
Bernie has been the Victim/Witness Coordinator for Brown County since 2012. Her duties were reassigned to the Brown County Attorney’s Office in 2021. She works closely with crime victims and witnesses during criminal investigations, throughout the process of criminal prosecution, and during criminal trials.
