ATTENTION PROPERTY OWNERS: If you have experienced flooding in your home from the recent rains and your insurance company has deemed your losses to be 50% of your property value or more, you may qualify for a local option abatement. Contact the Brown County Assessor’s office before July 1st @ 507-233-6606 to speak with an appraiser to request an inspection.

Financial Assistance
Brown County Human Services provides financial support to elderly, disabled and low-income residents of Brown County. Upon receipt of the application an interview will be scheduled and/or a request for information will be mailed. For the SNAP program, be sure to turn in a signed first page of the application ASAP. This signature and date will determine the first date benefits may start if found eligible for this program.

- Minnesota Department of Human Services
- MNBenefits – to apply for Food, Cash, Emergency Assistance, Housing support (GRH) and/or Child Care Assistance.
- Combined Application Form (CAF) - For families and people under age 60.
- Senior SNAP Application. For individuals and couples who are 60 years of age or older
- MNsure – Health care assistance for families and those UNDER age 65 not certified disabled.
- Application for Certain Populations – Health care assistance for those certified disabled by Social Security or are OVER age 65
- Application for Long Term Care – Health care assistance for those in a nursing home or intermediate care or nursing facility or persons needing help through a waiver program.
We also have paper applications available at our office or we can mail one to you.

Completed forms and applications may be delivered to our office in one of four ways:
- Dropped off at our office during open hours.
- Put in the drop box in our parking lot anytime. Please place in an envelope with your name and who it should go to. The box is emptied several times throughout the business day. If you need original verififications returned, please note on the document
- Mailed to our PO Box listed above
- Scanning and emailing all documents to.
